Essential Oil- Lavender

LAVENDER – is Pure Gold, It Calms and Sooths Your Soul For Dog Too...

I recently purchased a new tea today; it is organic Camille and Lavender. I find irresistible the smell of Lavender, and in the past I would position fresh Lavender in netted petite flat bags and situate them under my sheets, and inside the pillowcases, what a soothing way to drift off the sleep with the aroma of this fine natural plant. The English Pilgrims first arrived in the Americans with Lavender, yet it came be traced far back from about 600 BC.

The word Lavender means “wash” from the Latin word lavare. This plant was use in Egypt in the mummification process; they assemble stills to extract the Lavender into oils. Then it was also used to make perfumes, this perfume was also used in the tombs to keep the dead smelling fresh and help the dead to enjoy their journey to the next world.

Therefore, the Egyptians were known as the first tribes of farmer. They refined this plant during certain times of the year. The Nile River was the secret to this barren land, first it would flood and destroy all their crops, and then it would recede and leave powerful minerals behind in the soil. The farmers learned to plant following the yearly flooding of the river, and the crops that grew from those fields were extremely fruitful. Hence, Lavender fields where breathtaking to view, and the crops produced and grew in great abundance.
It is simply amazing to appreciate how seeds and plants were gathered by tribes that moved around to hunt and farm during weather changes. As these tribes trek by foot along the way and spill out of their bags, and that is how it came about that plants merely found in one region on Earth were found growing in places that is uncommon for that plant.

Without hesitation, let’s get back to Lavender, it came about as a sought after fragrance, countless wealthy men and women would wear sea shells of cones on there heads and fill the cones with Lavender and in addition they would apply the oils on their entire bodies to smell fresh and clean. This additionally protects them from insects; they would hang it on their beds, use it in the public baths, to communicate with the spirits and mix Lavender with other herbs and smoke it.

Heartrending closer in time; in England during the plague the bodies were robbed of Lavender and the thief’s would make a Lavender paste to ward off this serious disease, thus this Lavender mixer became known as, “Four Thief’s Vinegar”.

It appears that when you really look at this amazing plant you find more and more uses for it, during the early 1900’s it was discovered to heal burns, and with a more serious burn it also healed scarring. This reminds me of Aloe Vera plants which is also known to do the same…

My daughter loves Lavender and uses the Lavender essential oils for Aromatherapy; she will spend every evenings soaking in a bath, and enjoy using Lavender soups, at the same time drinking her hot Lavender tea with honey, while reading a good book, it is known for its calming effects and nightly wind down from a long and eventful day. Sherry would also wash her clothes with Lavender oils, heck you can even wash your floors and counter tops with Lavender, line your drawers, dust your furniture. In the old day Lavender was sold mostly by Gypsy’s, which of course that is what I am, therefore my daughter is in good hands....

This is a great idea for gifts for the holidays; you can make great scented waters placed in pretty glass bottles with a palm plant rap around with a small Lavender plant, how about scented bags make from delicate lacy fabric for the fine linens and delicate garments in their drawers. If your friends have a dog Lavender can be used for their pets, when they are in a stressful situation, just drop some oil on them and rub is in, you will witness an amazing calm come over them. Add it to dog scarf’s or collars. You can make a mixture of Lavender Oils to bath pets; your friends will love you for this idea.
